Rowing

I started rowing in college and have continued when I have lived near a river. Now I row at the Narragansett Boat Club, the oldest (1838) rowing club in the country. As regatta director there, I organized the boat club's annual regattas for many years.

  • Winter rowing

Many of the rowers at my boat club have older Van Dusen shells and have tried to find replacement hatch covers for them. Though it looks like there are some on eBay which are suitable, they sometimes arrive and then don't really fit. An option is to replace both the cover and the part into which it screws that is attached to the boat, but that is a bit of work.

Instead, I measured an existing cover, drew it in Rhino and printed it on a Formlabs Form 3 printer. It works great. I don't know how it will come out on a cheaper and faster PLA printer.

Here is the file (in mm).

Squash

When one of my daughters started playing squash, it looked like fun so I also started playing. We are fortunate to live near PVD Squash which was completed recently and is one of the best squash facilities in the country.

Fencing

When one of my daughters started fencing, it looked like fun so I also started. We are fortunate to live near the Rhode Island Fencing Academy and Club which is one of the best fencing facilities in the country. I fenced for a few years.
